Software Project Leader (Oct 2012 – May 2015)

Central Manchester & Manchester Children’s Foundation Trust

Location: Manchester, England pin

Skills: C#, MVC5, REST WebAPI, AngularJS, jQuery, Bootstrap, Castle Windsor, WCF Services, Dapper, Kendo UI, Bootstrap, TFS, RhinoMocks, AutoMapper

I led a multi-disciplinary Agile team to architect, design, develop and support the Trust’s first bespoke electronic patient record system (EPR).

The primary goal of the EPR project was to create a single application capable of reading across the Trust’s numerous clinical IT systems giving the clinician a holistic view via the web portal of the patent’s medical record.

My major accomplishments included:

  • Ran as an Agile project, the first of its kind for the Trust.
  • Designed the application as an N-Tiered, high availability, highly scale-able application utilising the MVC framework for the web front-end and then WCF services as the entry point into the back-end employing SOLID principles throughout.
  • Aggregated data from many different 3rd party data sources and also data from the applications own SQL server database. This data was made available through the applications WCF services.
  • Engaged with end-users, business analysts and senior management to build user stories to create the backlog from which I ran sprint planning sessions and daily stand-ups.
  • Customised TFS work item types, work flows and build definitions.
  • Conducted numerous interviews for new candidates for both full-time and contractor positions.

In addition to the EPR project I also led small teams of developers (typically one or two) on any enhancement work on the applications I developed in my previous role for the trust, so whilst not actively writing code on the projects I met users, gathered requirements, created user stories, managed TFS and led and mentored the developers on the enhancement work.
